Nowadays, with the development of society, people's demand for meat is getting bigger and bigger, and the demand is getting higher and higher. Feed has become an important part. After all, the feed determines the quality of the livestock in a large part. Corn gluten feed is one of them. It is a very widely used feed and a very nutritious feed. This article will explore this feed and describe the relevant information.

This article contains the following:

  • Nutritional value

  • Where is the use?

  • Matters needing attention

1、Nutritional value

  • Energy

Energy is the basic substance for animal growth and metabolism. Corn gluten feeds contain high calories, and ruminants (such as cattle and sheep) consume a lot of calories from gluten feed due to the influence of cellulose. When feeding pigs and poultry, the heat of corn feed is equivalent to wheat feed and other high fiber feed.

  • Fat

Fat is the most abundant component of metabolic energy. Since the unsaturated fatty acids contained in corn fat can promote the absorption and utilization of saturated fatty acids in animal feed, the unsaturated fatty acids in the stomach of ruminants are oxidized, which helps to increase the metabolic energy, which is beneficial to the ruthenium to take away hydrogen atoms and reduce the methane content. .

  • Amino acid

The feed is added to other synthetic amino acids or natural proteins and can be used as an amino acid source for pigs and poultry. ,

  • Trace element

Corn gluten feed has a high phosphorus content, so there are many inorganic elements added to the feed. Corn feed is also the best source of potassium, magnesium and sulfur. Sulfur is most useful because it allows ruminants to store large amounts of non-protein nitrogen sources. Corn feed is also the best source of metal ions, such as iron and zinc. These feeds contain the least amount of calcium and sodium, so they can be used with most feeds.

  • Vitamin

Vitamins are essential for animal metabolism of other nutrients. Corn gluten feed products are rich in vitamin B and vitamin C. Protein powder contains a lot of carotenoids and vitamin A.

2、Where is the use?

  • Sheep

In high-concentration mutton diets, up to 50% of the diet contains different forms of corn gluten feed (wet or dry), which is advantageous compared to corn-urea or corn-soybean-based diets. .

  • Goat

Dairy goats fed dehydrated corn gluten feed have higher milk protein concentrations than goats fed other protein sources such as broad beans, sunflower flour or cottonseed.

  • Pig

Corn gluten feed contains more protein than corn kernels, but its dietary fiber content is also much higher, resulting in lower energy values. For growing pigs, the net energy of corn feed is about 60% of corn kernels. In adult sows that are better able to digest dietary fiber, the net energy of corn feed is 10% higher than that of growing pigs.

In sows, corn feed can be used to dilute energy during pregnancy to reduce hunger and improve welfare, health and reproductive performance. Corn feed can feed pregnant sows at high rates (50-70%), supplementing tryptophan without affecting reproductive performance.

  • Rabbit

Corn gluten feed is a typical ingredient in Western European rabbit food. It is used without any problems, mainly as a source of protein and as a source of digestible fiber. Corn feeds typically contain between 2% and 10% in rabbit diets and up to 20% in some diets.

Fish

  • Tilapia

The feed has been used as a fishmeal substitute in the diet of fry and sub-adult tilapia. For fishmeal, diets containing 67% corn gluten meal have better feed efficiency than diets containing 30% gluten feed. Corn feed has a high feed efficiency and can obtain cost-effective rations without compromising fish growth.

  • Catfish

Channel catfish and hybrid carp fingerlings (50-60 g) can be fed corn gluten feed, up to 50% in squid, fed up to 30% in mixed squid without affecting feed palatability, weight gain and feed effectiveness.

3、Matters needing attention

Sulfur dioxide is added during the wet milling process to aid in the extraction of the starch. As a result, the sulfur concentration in corn feed is between 0.33 and 0.73% DM, which may be higher than the safe upper limit for cattle. Feeding large amounts of corn gluten feed can cause sulphur poisoning, resulting in reduced feed intake and possibly death. A specific disease associated with excess sulfur is polio softening, which affects the nervous system, leading to blindness, disharmony and seizures. Excessive dietary sulfur also increases the risk of copper deficiency.

As a widely used feed, corn gluten feed has extremely high and rich nutritional value. This makes it usable in many ways and is a feed that many livestock owners love.
