Choline chloride

Polifar Choline Chloride For Feed Additive

Choline chloride is an organic substance with the chemical formula C5H14ClNO, white hygroscopic crystals, odorless and fishy odor. Melting point 305 ℃. 10% aqueous solution pH5-6, unstable in lye. This product is easily soluble in water and ethanol, but insoluble in ether, petroleum ether, benzene, and carbon disulfide. For the treatment of fatty liver and cirrhosis. It is also used as a livestock feed additive, which can stimulate the ovaries to produce more eggs and increase the weight of livestock and fish. In addition, it is a highly effective nutritional supplement and fat-removing agent in food.

Why Use Choline Chloride

Choline chloride is used as a feed additive to stimulate the ovaries of animals to produce more eggs, improve farrowing rates, and increase the weight of livestock and fish. If there is not enough choline in animal feed, animals will develop choline deficiency. The following problems will occur:

Poultry

Slow growth, reduced egg production, reduced size, and reduced hatchability of eggs. Fat accumulation in the liver and kidney, hepatic steatosis, tendinopathy, behavioral disorders, muscular dystrophy.

Swine

Slow growth, behavioral disturbances, neurological disorders, muscular dystrophy, poor fertility, excess fat storage in the liver.

Cattle

Breathing disturbances, behavioral disturbances, loss of appetite, slowed growth.

Fish

Slow growth, fatty liver, poor feeding efficiency, renal and intestinal bleeding.

Structure & Storage Of Choline Chloride

The storage temperature of choline chloride solution should not be lower than -12℃ to avoid blocking the pipeline after crystallization.
Choline chloride powder should be stored in silos with dehumidification equipment to prevent the product from absorbing moisture. Choline chloride powder absorbs moisture and can cause the product to become wet and clumpy, leading to catheter blockage. Plant carrier-type choline chloride powder may be fermented after long-term moisture absorption.

Manufacturing Process Of Choline Chloride

Ethylene oxide method

It is derived from the reaction between trimethylamine and ethylene oxide.
The trimethylamine ethanol solution was added to the reaction pot, and ethylene oxide was introduced into it at about 30°C, and the reaction was stirred for 4 hours, and then neutralized with hydrochloric acid (controlling pH 6.5-7.0). The crude product yield can reach 98%. After decolorization with activated carbon and vacuum concentration, a 70% aqueous solution can be obtained. Add corncob flour, rice husk flour, bran or diatomaceous earth, and other excipients to the aqueous solution to obtain 50% powder.

Chloroethanol method

Substitute ethylene oxide and hydrochloric acid with chloroethanol, and react with trimethylamine under the catalysis of a small amount of ethylene oxide or an alkaline substance: first add 100 parts of chloroethanol to the reaction kettle, add 130 parts of trimethylamine from the liquid surface, Simultaneously, 1.7 parts of ethylene oxide was introduced to initiate the reaction. After adding, it was kept at 32-38°C and stirred for 4h, the yield was 84% (calculated in chloroethanol). If catalyzed by alkaline substances (such as quaternary ammonium salts), the single-pass conversion rate can reach more than 97%.

The Effect of Trace Elements on Eggshells
August 23, 2019

China is a big country in the world for laying hens. The commodity hens account for 40% to 45% of the world's stock. In recent years, the annual output of eggs is about 20 million tons. In the collection, grading, packaging, transportation, storage and processing of eggs, eggs are inevitably affected by external forces, resulting in cracking or cracking of the eggshell, resulting in losses of more than 500 million yuan per year, to producers and wholesalers. The economic losses caused are very large. At this time, the influence of trace elements on eggs is crucial. This paper will review the existing mechanisms of the effects of trace elements on eggshell quality.
