Citric Acid Introduction

Citric acid (CA), with the molecular formula C₆H₈O₇, is an important organic acid. It is a colorless crystal, odorless, has a strong sour taste, is easily soluble in water, and is a natural preservative and food additive.

It is mainly used in food, beverage, and pharmaceutical industries as a sour agent, flavoring agent, preservative, preservative, and pharmaceutical auxiliary material. Used as an antioxidant, plasticizer, detergent, etc. in the chemical industry, cosmetic industry, and washing industry.

Natural citric acid is widely distributed in nature. Natural citric acid exists in the bones, muscles, and blood of plants such as lemons, citrus, pineapples, and other fruits and animals. Synthetic citric acid is made by fermenting sugar, molasses, starch, grapes, and other sugary substances.
